วันนี้ (19 ก.ค.) เมื่อเวลา 15.00 น. ดร.เคนเนธ เฟลมมิง (Dr Kenneth Fleming) จากคณะประวัติศาสตร์แห่งศาสนาและพันธกิจศึกษา (History of Religions and Mission Studies) มหาวิทยาลัยไฮเด็ลเบิร์ก (University of Heidelberg) ประเทศเยอรมันนี (Germany) http://theologie.uni-hd.de/rm/index.html ได้ขอเข้าพบผู้แทนคณะกรรมการบริหารศูนย์พิทักษ์พระพุทธศาสนาแห่งประเทศไทย นำโดย พระเทพวิสุทธิกวี เลขาธิการ, พระมหา ดร.โชว์ ทสฺสนีโย รองเลขาธิการฝ่ายบรรพชิต, พล.อ.ธงชัย เกื้อสกุล รองประธาน, พล.ต.ทองขาว พ่วงรอดพันธุ์ รองเลขาธิการฝ่ายฆราวาส และ พ.อ.(พิเศษ) บุญชู ศรีเคลือบ เลขาธิการเปรียญธรรมสมาคมแห่งประเทศไทย
สำหรับการเข้าพบครั้งนี้เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของการทำวิจัยในหัวข้อ "The contemporary encounter between Buddhists and Christians in Thailand." ซึ่งการวิจัยครั้งนี่มุ่งเน้นความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างชาวพุทธและชาวคริสต์นิกายโปรเตสแตนต์ โดยมีการเปรียบเทียบระหว่างเหตุการณ์ดังกล่าวกับกรณีชาวพุทธ กับชาวมุสลิมใน สามจังหวัดชายแดนภาคใต้ของประเทศไทย โดยประเด็นที่ ดร.เคนเนธ เฟลมมิง (Dr Kenneth Fleming) ได้สอบถาม อาทิ ทำไมต้องมีการรณรงค์ให้พระพุทธศาสนาเป็นศาสนาประจำชาติในรัฐธรรมนูญ, การทำงานขององค์กรทางพระพุทธศาสนาในเมืองไทยเป็นอย่างไร, ภัยของพระพุทธศาสนาในปัจจุบันมีอะไรบ้าง, ชาวพุทธมีความคิดเห็นต่อคนที่นับถือศาสนาอื่นๆ อย่างไร และพอใจในรูปแบบการบริหารบ้านเมืองในปัจจุบันที่มีต่อพระพุทธศาสนาหรือไม่ นอกจากนั้นยังได้แลกเปลี่ยนความคิดเห็นในประเด็นต่างๆ อีกหลายประเด็น
ดร.เคนเนธ เฟลมมิง (Dr Kenneth Fleming) ได้กล่าวถึงการที่ได้เลือกเข้ามาพบกับกรรมการบริหารของศูนย์พิทักษ์พระพุทธศาสนาแห่งประเทศไทยในครั้งนี้ว่า ตนได้ติดตามความเคลื่อนไหวทางศาสนาภายในประเทศไทยมาเป็นระยะเวลานานพอสมควร และได้เห็นถึงบทบาทที่โดเด่นของศูนย์พิทักษ์พระพุทศาสนาแห่งประเทศไทยจากสื่อต่างๆ ทั้งในประเทศไทย และต่างประเทศ ดังนั้นจึงใช้เวลาเข้ามาศึกษาข้อมูลต่างๆ จากทางเว็ปไซด์ www.bpct.org ซึ่งเป็นเว็ปของศูนย์พิทักษ์พระพุทธศาสนาแห่งประเทศไทย โดยใช้เวลาแปลจากภาษาไทยเป็นภาษาอังกฤษเป็นเวลานับเดือน

In recent years, the relationship between Buddhism and Islam in Thailand has received international scholarly attention, mainly in relation to separatist conflicts in the South.
